Our Story

In the spring of 2004 Gerry bought what has become Tannery Meadows Cattle Company. Originally a dairy farm, Gerry set out to raise beef cattle and work the hay fields. The farm was originally 65 acres and has grown to 155 acres including hay fields, pastures and wooded land. Along the way Tamara became a hay customer and, in 2017, she moved to the farm. The two were married in 2018 and have five wonderful children.

Gerry, a retired firefighter, works on the farm full time. He grew up in Buxton, Maine where his parents introduced him to farm life. Tamara is originally from Alberta where she grew up in a rural farming community and then obtained her Physical Therapy degree. The farm animals include 80 head of cattle as well as chickens, dogs, donkeys, a horse and a cat. Both Gerry and Tamara value family and their community. They are involved in various committees and activities including school board, environmental committees and square dancing.

Caring for the farm and the animals is important to Gerry and Tamara. Their grass fed cattle are all raised on the farm from birth. They have learned a lot and continue to learn about sustainable ways to care for their animals and land while producing high quality beef.
